While our CrossFit Coaches hitted a Team Competition in Germany at the Challenge makes you bäääm http://challengemakesyoubäääm.eu/ (“Team Smokin Ace” – overall #2 )
Sabrina my CrossFit-Buddy and me took part at the Athens Throwdown as Individual Athletes (Female Master and Female Elite) to support our Gym Crossfit ACE (Austria, Vienna 1060/1150)
This was my second Rxd Competition and my first time in Greece. I enjoyed nearly every moment of the Athens Throwdown as you can see on these nice painface pictures.
I competed against very strong, beautiful and nice girls, the level was very high and the workouts as expected really hard. The Event was very emotional for many of the Athletes …I saw people hitting new PR’s, going out of their comfort zones and saw some crying as well… no matter what happened this weekend, one thing is clear to me: you’ve got the have big balls to take all your courage, to go out there and to surrender yourself, to compare yourself and see where you are at the moment, where you want to be and what it will need to take in the future to reach your goals and get better.
Getting no-repped or failing on some things you might not have even thought of is not very comfortable and not a lot of fun BUT it will give you a big morale boost and brings you further and the positive memories and experiences will totally outweigh the negative ones.
My darkest moment at the competition was my second workout in the Female Elite Class with unbroken Double Unders after some really heavy Deadlifts (80kg) and over the Bar Burpees… it is one of my biggest weaknesses but I tried my best but could just make the first Round and after that I failed again and again at 27 or 28 reps unbroken but I am motivated now to work on that a little harder also because I couldn’t do just one DU half a year before… and it also helped a lot to see many others also struggling with one of the basics.
I finished after an amazing start at Day 1, in the first workout #14 of 44 participants at the DU WOD as 40th and managed to snatch my 1RM three times unbroken in the third WOD.
After two days I finished overall as 32nd/44 which is not very satisfying but okay for me.
ON TO THE NEXT ONE!
aaaand it’s a beautiful city though! I am gonna come back for sure!
